I’m Alec Johnson, and I'm running to represent Texas House District 11.

I Stand With Working Families. I Stand For Government For The Many, Not The Few.

About Alec Johnson

Alec Johnson trained in Economics at the University of Massachusetts and has had a varied career in community mental health, software engineering, small business management, and grassroots organizing. As a senior consulting software engineer his job required routinely solving complex problems never encountered before. He is proud to be the eldest son of the late Anne McCaffrey, internationally famous best-selling science fiction author.

Inspired by the Greatest Generations’ service and sacrifice in WWII, he saw the same values embodied by Civil Rights heroes like Martin Luther King Jr., César Chávez, and many others. Throughout his life, he has been willing to make sacrifices for the betterment of others. Alec joined organizations that were proactively confronting Government overreach and Big Business domination – both of which have had negative impacts on the well-being of individual hard-working people, and on the environment that many of those people relied on for jobs, health, and their children’s future.

He came to Texas years ago to support efforts to stop the Keystone XL Pipeline, an environmental disaster for Texas and our nation. Alec had not planned on falling in love with East Texas, but he literally fell in love – in 2015, he married Gloria, a local resident who has lived in Texas for over four decades.

“Having made East Texas my home,” Alec Johnson declared, “I have decided to stand for State Representative for District 11. In light of those who have sacrificed before us, for our children’s future, and before God, I come to this race in humility and service. I look forward to listening to my neighbors across this district so I can bring your concerns to Austin. I mean to earn your trust, your support, and your vote.”

The big problems we face demand big solutions.

I have a clear vision for how we can work together to tackle these problems.

Across this District I find people are ready to take big steps for big gains. People are ready to win justice for our communities today and for our children’s future tomorrow.

We can work together to make our dreams for a more just world real.
